Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia drew attention to a provocative post of T. Beruchashvili, the Georgian Ambassador to the United Kingdom on the Twitter social network.

The publication of the "heartbreaking" picture with a girl crawling through the barbed wire is timed to coincide with the International Children's Day and is designed to demonstrate an alleged discriminatory attitude towards the residents of the Galsky district of Abkhazia, in particular, in the issue of receiving of education in Georgian.

It is quite obvious that the next cynical attack of the diplomatic representative of Georgia made against the background and under the guise of the International Children's Day, clearly fits into the policy of information slander of the Republic of Abkhazia. The Georgian ambassador to the UK is trying to demonize Abkhazia, creating a tendentious impression of the processes taking place in the country under the guise of caring for children.

It should be emphasized that residents of the Gali district of the Republic of Abkhazia enjoy the right to receive education in their native language as well as other fundamental rights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia has repeatedly drawn attention to the inadmissibility of disseminating of distorted information on the situation in Abkhazia that deliberately misleads the international community. Georgia is consistently pursuing a course on the information blockade and international isolation of Abkhazia by replicating of obviously false information on the human rights situation in the Republic. It causes a serious disappointment that the Western partners of Georgia use the knowingly distorted information as the only true source for many years.

At the same time, the numerous serious violations by the Georgian authorities of international humanitarian law against the citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia go unnoticed.

The Georgian officials and representatives of the international community sympathizing with them cannot understand in any way that such a policy only delays the possibility of a productive dialogue between the parties. The Abkhaz side intends to declare the inadmissibility of the dissemination by the official representatives of Georgia of inaccurate information discrediting the image of the Republic of Abkhazia in the international arena during the upcoming consultations with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions.
