The works on restoring of the historical appearance of the exhibition center are under way - the famous fountains and pavilions are being restored on the territory of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements.
Work is underway to repair the Abkhazian pavilion which is located in the center of VDNH near the fountain "Friendship of Peoples".
Today, the work of the reconstruction of the pavilion was assessed by Igor Akhba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation; Oleg Bartsits, the Trade Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia; the representatives of the VDNH leadership; Oleg Lakoba, the Executive Director of the International Cultural Business Center of Abkhazia and Beslan Agrba, the head of the Moscow Abkhazian Diaspora.
I.Ahba noted that the pavilion is changing before our eyes - there has already been done a lot, the facade of the building has been practically restored; now internal restoration is being carried out. The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to Sergey Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow and the leadership of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements for assistance in the reconstruction of the pavilion.
"This is a very difficult and painstaking work, because there was no major overhaul and the pavilion was built long ago - in the middle of the last century. I hope that soon we will be able to hold events in the renovated pavilion. It is of great importance for the image of Abkhazia - it is necessary that as many people as possible learn about the culture and traditions of our country, " the Ambassador said.
In turn, the representatives of the VDNH Directorate expressed their hope for further cooperation. They told on the planned events, inviting Abkhazia to participate in them.
O. Bartsits stressed that the restoration of the Abkhazian pavilion in such a unique exhibition space is a very important project. "I hope we will implement it and we will soon have a modern, cozy, hospitable house of Abkhazia in Moscow," said the head of the Trade Mission.
