The Day of the Abkhaz flag was celebrated in Moscow

The Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation celebrated the Day of the National Flag.

The event was attended by the members of the Moscow-based Abkhaz and Abazin diasporas, the representatives of the creative intelligentsia of Russia and Abkhazia and Abkhazian youth.

Igor Akhba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary addressed to the audience. The Ambassador noted that the National Flag, approved in 1992 by the Supreme Council of Abkhazia under the chairmanship of Vladislav Ardzinba, personifies the sovereignty of our state, reflects its rich history, symbolizes the spirit and character of the people of Abkhazia, the flag became a symbol of our wartime victories.

"Today the flags proudly hanging over our homeland - an independent and sovereign republic as well as the flag is hanging in the center of the Russian capital - Moscow - over the first Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the history of the country," Igor Akhba said.

The public figures such as Taras Shamba, Yuri Agirbov, Beslan Agrba, Nodar Khashba, Denis Chachkhalia, poet and publicist, Vladimir Delba, writer and others spoke at the event.

The persons present at the event shared their memories of the stages of the struggle of the Abkhaz people for independence and sovereignty, emphasizing Russia's great assistance in the formation and development of our country.
