Zaur Gvadzhava, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia made a reception on the occasion of the 25-th anniversary of Victory Day, the 10-th anniversary of the recognition of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation and the day of the armed forces of the Republic of Abkhazia on October 18, 2018.
Reception was held at the hotel Gran Melia Caracas.
The reception was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, ambassadors accredited in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, from such countries as Nicaragua, Syria, Bolivia, Algeria, Qatar, Haiti, Iraq and other representatives.
Zaur Gvadzhava, the Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia opened the reception with a welcoming speech.
It is said:
Dear guests, distinguished ambassadors, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Constituent National Assembly and invited guests.
This year, the people of Abkhazia celebrates the 25-th anniversary of Victory Day and the 10-th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia. This great date, which opened the way to the revival of our centuries-old statehood, has become a major milestone in the modern political history of our country.
The troops of the State Council of Georgia invaded Abkhazia in order to destroy the Abkhaz ethnic group and culture without declaring the war on August 14, 1992. The Abkhaz armed forces, which were created directly during the war, expelled Georgian troops from the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia on September 30, 1993. The memory of those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Abkhazia will always live in our hearts.
The people of Abkhazia reaffirmed their determination to continue building a sovereign, democratic, legal state - a subject of international law, and to seek its recognition by the international community.
Raul Khadzhimba, the President of Abkhazia paid a working visit to the Russian Federation on August 24 of this year, during which he met with President Vladimir Putin and on September 4 of the same year, he paid an official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic, during which the Agreement Friendship and Cooperation was signed.
This shows that today Abkhazia is an internationally recognized country, but Georgia continues to threaten the security of Abkhazia, international exercises are held with the participation of NATO countries in Georgia.
Georgia refuses to sign agreements on the mutual non-use of force.
From 4 to 8 March 2017, a delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia headed by Daur Kove, Foreign Minister arrived in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the anniversary of the death of President Hugo Chávez Frías.
an Agreement between the Government of Abkhazia and Venezuela on cooperation in the field of culture and a Memorandum of Understanding between Telesur and the State Radio and Television Company of Abkhazia were signed during the visit.
In addition, draft agreements are being developed in the field of sports and education between Abkhazia and Venezuela.

We are constantly in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela and Nicaragua on the possibility of a high-level delegation visiting the Republic of Abkhazia.
Also, the new office of the Embassy of Abkhazia in Caracas has been opened for conducting more efficient work.
Thus, it should be noted that Abkhazia pays special attention to the development of large-scale cooperation with Venezuela and that this development is at the stage of mutual striving to expand political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
In conclusion, on this important day for Abkhazia, I wish all of you: peace, health and well-being. Many thanks. Long live Abkhazia! Long live Venezuela!
