"Russia's recognition of Abkhazia's independence in 2008 and the subsequent establishment of the diplomatic relations opened a new historical chapter in relations between our states: the establishment of diplomatic relations has given a new impetus to the development of bilateral interstate relations, strategic partnership and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation.
Today, after 10 years from that significant day, we can proudly say that the relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation are at the highest level: two key interstate agreements have been signed, a number of intergovernmental agreements in various fields, annual meetings at the level of parliaments, ministries and other departments of the two countries, trade cooperation is actively developing, the investment flows of Russian business to the economy of Abkhazia are increasing, an intensification process is underway and expand cooperation to new areas.
The recent visit of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba to the Russian Federation and the meeting with President Vladimir Putin only confirm the inviolability of bilateral relations between our countries.
In Abkhazia, we highly appreciate the level of mutual understanding between our peoples reached and the weighty role played by you, dear Sergey Viktorovich, in establishing such close cooperation between our countries. I am convinced that the bilateral relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation will continue to follow the good traditions of friendship and cooperation aimed at the benefit of the peoples of our countries.
