Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to Dmitry Medoyev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the occasion of the 29-th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of South Ossetia.

It is said:

“September 20, 1990 is a fateful date in the history of South Ossetia which laid the foundation for a new life. The Council of People's Deputies of the South Ossetian Autonomous Region adopted the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the South Ossetian Soviet Democratic Republic on that day.

The freedom-loving people of South Ossetia chose the path of building an independent sovereign state and defended their legitimate right to live in peace in a free Fatherland at the cost of the lives of their sons and daughters.

South Ossetia has come a glorious path of the development of the state despite on the difficulties and today is confidently looking to the future.

The Republic of Abkhazia highly values the level of interstate cooperation that has developed with South Ossetia and a meaningful political dialogue.

I am sure that constructive interaction will continue in the interests of the fraternal Abkhaz and South Ossetian peoples.”
