Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia congratulated Dmitry Medoyev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the Day of the adoption of the Act on the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.
In particular, it is noted:
"On May 29, 1992, the Supreme Council of South Ossetia adopted a fateful decision that initiated the formation of the South Ossetian statehood. This significant event laid to the foundation for the current stage of the development of the state of South Ossetia based on the principles of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. For more than a quarter of a century your Republic has been successfully following the path of economic, social and political reforms aimed at the welfare of the country and its people.
At the cost of irreparable losses, despite the difficulties and obstacles, the people of South Ossetia persistently continued their way to implementing of the dreams of many generations about their own state.
It is especially symbolic that such a significant date in the history of the Republic of South Ossetia coincided with an important foreign policy event - the recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Syrian Arab Republic as an independent and sovereign state. We are convinced that this landmark event will be the beginning of deepening and comprehensive development of bilateral interstate relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Syrian Arab Republic.
In Abkhazia, fraternal relations with South Ossetia are highly valued and attach great importance to the expansion of constructive political dialogue and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation. I am convinced that the strategic partnership between Abkhazia and South Ossetia will continue to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries ".
