The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia expresses its deep condolences to the
family, relatives and friends in connection with the tragic death of Gennady Gagulia, the Prime Minister
of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Gennady Gagulia was an outstanding statesman able to widely assess the situation and having a rare gift
to find a common language with people of opposing views, principles and beliefs. The strengthening of
Abkhaz statehood, the progressive development of the economy and the all-round building of ties with
foreign partners are inseparably linked with his name.

Gennady Gagulia enjoyed high prestige in his country and abroad. It is difficult to overestimate his
contribution to establishing contacts between the Republic of Abkhazia and other states on the basis of
mutual respect for interests, openness and equality. When he was the President of the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, he repeatedly and almost alone defended his interests and conveyed to the entire
international community the position of Abkhazia on various topical issues.

Leaving the life of one of the most prominent statesmen is an irreplaceable loss for the entire people of
Abkhazia.

The bright memory of the outstanding son and patriot of his country will forever remain in our hearts.
