The 10-th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation marks on September 17, 2018. The signing of the Treaty meant the establishment of equal, mutually respectful relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

The Treaty was an important milestone in the history of interstate Abkhaz-Russian cooperation. On its basis an extensive legal framework has been developed, dozens of agreements have been signed in various fields.

Abkhazia and Russia are strategic partners today.

Foreign-policy cooperation, security issues, economics, culture, education, healthcare are just a small list of areas in which active cooperation between the two countries is taking place today.

The signed Treaty not only expanded the legal framework, but also played a crucial role in strengthening peace and security in the region. It allowed to sign the Treaty on Alliance and Strategic Partnership in 2014 which opened up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

We highly appreciate the existing friendly relations with Russia. We express our assurances of readiness for further mutually beneficial, constructive cooperation for the benefit of our peoples.
