The opening ceremony of the I-st Global Forum of Young Diplomats was held in the framework of the XIX-th World Festival of Youth and Students on 16 October.
The event was attended by the members of the Council of Young Diplomats to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia as well as more than 110 foreign affairs officers from 50 countries.
Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister made a speech at the opening of the First Global Forum of Young Diplomats. He said: "I note with pleasure that this is an initiative of young diplomats of our ministry and I am glad that it received the broad support. More than 50 foreign policy services of various states of the world are represented here. I think that such meetings would be useful to hold traditionally. "

The Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia was established in 2014. The agreement on cooperation between the Council of Young Diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was signed in 2015.
