The adoption of a Decree on the formation of the Chief Foreign Office on May 17, 1993 by the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia was an important stage in the defense of national interests.

The formation of the Abkhaz diplomatic service took place in the most difficult conditions. But despite this, Abkhaz diplomacy managed to achieve considerable results - the main of which is the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation in 2008.

Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs combines a fusion of experience and youth. The staff of the Central Office and foreign institutions continue the best traditions of their predecessors and continue to defend the position of the Republic in the international arena. Our main task is wide international recognition of the independence of the Republic, as well as the creation of favorable external conditions for ensuring security. I am confident that together we can achieve important results for the country.
