The Georgian troops invaded Abkhazia and the Georgian-Abkhaz war began on August 14, 1992, which lasted 413 days and ended with the victory of the Abkhaz people on September 30, 1993.

Traditionally, the present day in Sukhum began with the laying of flowers at the Memorial of Military Glory, where the defenders of the Fatherland are buried.

The leadership of Abkhazia, headed by Aslan Bzhaniia, the President of the Republic, relatives and friends of the victims, veterans and invalids of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia, representatives of the public came to pay tribute to the memory of the victims in the Park of Glory in Sukhum.

The Head of the country's Foreign Affairs Agency also took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the State Memorial Complex of V. Ardzinba, the First President of the Republic of Abkhazia in v. Lower Eshera.

Thousands of defenders of the Motherland were killed in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia. Abkhazia managed to defend its freedom and independence at the cost of the incredible efforts and lives. The wreaths are laid at the monuments and graves of soldiers who died in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia on this mournful day throughout the territory of the Republic.
