On March 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia hosted consultations with representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, members of the Russian delegation at the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia Alexei Dvinyanin and Marat Kulakhmetov.

During the meeting, held in a friendly and allied atmosphere, the issues of preparation for the next round of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia, scheduled for March 28-29, 2017, were discussed in detail.

In particular, the issue of developing a joint statement of commitment to the nonuse of force and the preparation of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force as the main objective of the Geneva discussions was discussed. In addition, during the meeting was expressed concern over the growing contacts between Georgia and NATO. The issue of the current situation on the Abkhaz-Georgian border, the prospects for further work in Geneva, including the humanitarian aspects of the situation in the region, was also discussed.

Russian diplomats expressed support for the consistent efforts of the Abkhaz side to further strengthen the international positions of the Republic of Abkhazia, including active participation in the Geneva discussions.
