On January 17, 2022, Inal Ardzinba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia met with Murat Makharia the Chairman of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers in Turkey at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.

The meeting was attended by: Ibrahim Avidzba, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Turkey, Vadim Kharazia, Chairman of State Committee for Repatriation of the RA, Astamur Bagatelia, Deputy Chairman of State Committee for Repatriation of the RA, Inver Alshundba, Head of Middle East and Africa Department, Alas Asabua, Ambassador at Large of Foreign Ministry of the RA, Inar Gizba, Ambassador at Large of Foreign Ministry of the RA, Dzhansukh Lazba, Advisor of the Plenipotentiary Mission of the Republic of Abkhazia in Turkey, Member of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of VAK, Ahmet Khapat (Ceylan), former Chairman of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers in Turkey, Ümit Ashba (Shaheen), Board Member of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers in Turkey and Selimiye Albuz Yagan, Chairman of the Istanbul Abkhaz Cultural Center.

During the conversation, Murat Makharia informed Inal Ardzinba about the activities carried out by the Federation, in particular the work on the consolidation of the Abkhazian Diaspora in Turkey and the popularization of the Republic of Abkhazia in Turkey and the region. The most topical issues of cooperation of the Federation with ministries and agencies of the Republic of Abkhazia were voiced.

The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of using the whole arsenal of cultural and people's diplomacy to strengthen good-neighborly relations between the peoples of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Turkey.

The Federation also asked for assistance in organizing courses in the Abkhaz language in places of compact residence of the Abkhaz Diaspora.

The Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers in Turkey was established in 2010.

Currently, there are 17 Abkhaz cultural centers throughout Turkey, with a total number of about 10,000 members.
