Daur Kove, the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia congratulated the veterans of the Great Patriotic War on May 9 on the eve of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on behalf of Bzhaniia A.G., the President of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Minister personally visited Glusker Maria Zakharovna and Lomakina Maria Filippovna, presenting flowers and gifts to the veterans.

Daur Kove wished the veterans good health and thanked them for their invaluable contribution to the Great Victory.

“It is extremely important to preserve the memory of your feat in the name of the Great Victory and pass it on to our children and grandchildren. It is necessary that this historical event remains in the memory of many generations,” said Daur Kove.

More than 55 thousand residents of Abkhazia took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, 17 thousand 430 people died on the battlefields. Twenty-two natives of the Republic were awarded the high title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, three of them were awarded the Orders of Glory of three degrees.
