The Abkhazian-Russian consultations have been held at the Russian Foreign Ministry

The regular consultations took place on March 1,2018 within the framework of the mechanism for foreign policy coordination established by the Memorandum between the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Foreign Ministry of March 11, 2015.

The meeting of Igor Akhba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia with Grigory Karasin, the State Secretary, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was preceded by the consultations in the Fourth Department of the CIS countries.

The actual aspects of bilateral relations with an emphasis on inter-MFA cooperation were thoroughly discussed. The Russian side reported on the readiness of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize this year a regular refresher courses for the Abkhaz listeners. Plans are considered for the joint activities in connection with the upcoming of the 10-th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

The particular attention was paid to the topic of the political and practical cooperation between the two countries in the regional and international affairs. It was noted with satisfaction that with the active assistance of Russia Abkhazia continues successfully to expand the international contacts despite all the efforts of Georgia and its Western patrons to prevent this.

The practice of the regular consultations will be continued.
