The 41st round of the Geneva International Discussions was held on October 10-11, 2017.The delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia was headed by Daur Kove, the Foreign Minister. The delegation also included Irakli Tuzhba, the Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Artur Gagulia, the Head of the Department for Interaction with International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and Lasha Avidzba, the Deputy Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.

The discussion of the joint oral statement on the non-use of force was continued during the regular round of the discussion. Unfortunately the sides did not agree once again with the compromise version of the text of this oral statement which would be acceptable to all participants in the Geneva discussions. The parties were invited to obtain alternative versions of the text of the statement and to continue its discussion in the next round.

Within the framework of the discussion of humanitarian issues, the Abkhaz side paid special attention to the need to take operative measures aimed at combating the marble bug whose invasion threatens to cause serious damage to agricultural crops cultivated in Abkhazia. Daur Kove called on the Co-Chairs of the Geneva international discussions to pay special attention to this environmental problem and provide the necessary international support in the fight against this pest.

The participants in the Geneva international discussions agreed to hold the next round on December 12-13, 2017.
