Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia made a statement that the Georgian government will elaborate a strategy for the socio-economic development of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. “We plan to elaborate a strategy for the socio-economic development of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. At the first stage, the concept of socio-economic rehabilitation of Gali and Akhalgori regions will be developed. The regular cooperation with the representatives of the civil society will be ensured, including within the framework of a specially created advisory council of experts,” he said.

Garibashvili's statement is an attempt at gross the interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state - the Republic of Abkhazia. The out-of-the-box plan to prepare a development strategy for Abkhazia as well as the recent decision by the Georgian Prime Minister to create a "de-occupation commission" are completely out of touch with reality and will have no practical effect whatsoever.

All this imitation of the frantic activity on the part of the Georgian authorities, allegedly concerned on the fate of Abkhazia, indicates only that Tbilisi categorically does not accept the real ways of achieving of the mutual understanding between the two countries and does not want to work productively within the generally accepted international format of the Geneva Discussions.

Georgia's revanchist approach expressed in its legislative recognition of Abkhazia as "occupied territory" completely defines of the current political course of Georgia with respect to the Abkhazian state. Tbilisi is trying to throw the dust in the eyes of the international community and to mislead its citizens, making loud statements on the planned humanitarian projects and development strategies. The Republic of Abkhazia is ready to build the relations only on an equal basis and not as an autonomous region of Georgia.

The Abkhaz side intends to raise the issue of the unacceptable initiatives against the Republic of Abkhazia put forward by the Georgian Prime Minister at the forthcoming round of the Geneva discussions.
