The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia drew the attention to the incident that occurred in the Georgian parliament during a meeting of the 26-th session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. The session was attended by the delegations of the legislative bodies of 25 member countries of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy(I.A.O.).

As reported, the Georgian parliamentarians representing opposition political forces rudely disrupted the I.A.O. session. In the course of the controversy that arose A. Bobokhidze, a member of the Georgian parliament, a member of “European Georgia” shouted an offensive remark in which he essentially admitted to the killings committed by him on the territory of Abkhazia.

Such cynical confession expressed by an official from the rostrum of the Georgian parliament causes legitimate indignation. Such a “statement” will not remain without legal consequences for a person who openly flaunts his war crimes.

The representatives of the Republic of Abkhazia intend to touch upon the “statement” voiced by the Georgian parliamentarian and its substantive side in the course of the upcoming round of the International Geneva Discussions and draw the attention of the co-chairs and all participants of the discussions to it.

In addition, on the basis of the public confession of committing crimes in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, we consider it necessary to raise the issue of criminal responsibility of A. Bobokhidze, the Deputy of the Parliament of Georgia.
