Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic Bagrat Khutaba. The parties discussed organizational and technical issues for the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people. In particular, the issue of purchasing modular homes for Syrian families left homeless as a result of the earthquake.
“The state has allocated a big amount, which must be used as efficiently as possible. The President supported your idea to purchase modular homes. The idea is to purchase up to 35 such homes of 30-40 sq.m of living space,” the Minister noted.
In addition, a wide range of issues of interstate cooperation and issues of enhancing dialogue with the countries of the Middle East were discussed at the meeting. The Minister noted the dynamic and efficient work of the Embassy and the personal contribution of Bagrat Khutaba in expanding contacts in the countries of the Middle East.
"The Syrian Arab Republic is our stronghold in strengthening and expanding contacts with the countries of the Middle East," the Minister emphasized. Bagrat Khutaba informed Inal Ardzinba that the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in Syria is carrying out serious work to enhance cooperation with a number of countries in the Middle East.
“First of all, we are talking about the prospects for the recognition of the state sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia by a number of countries in the Middle East,” the Ambassador said. Besides, Khutaba noted that Abkhazia also has sufficient potential for the development of trade and economic ties with the countries of the Middle East. At the initiative of the Head of the Foreign Ministry Inal Ardzinba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania agreed on the appointment of Bagrat Khutaba to the post of Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Middle East.
Bagrat Khutaba emphasized that he is ready to do everything possible, using all available mechanisms and ties with the Diaspora in order to promote the interests of the Republic of Abkhazia.
