On May 18, 2023, a working meeting of the Heads of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and Nicaragua was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of topical issues of mutual interest.

Denis Moncada, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, within the framework of the meeting with Inal Ardzinba, the Foreign Minister of Abkhazia paid special attention to the activities of NGOs, noting that “with a population of 6 million 600 thousand people in Nicaragua, 220 NGOs operate in Nicaragua, headed by prominent public figures, scientists and writers. These organizations are being financed in order to destabilize the domestic situation in the country.”

“An example is the fact that in April 2018 there was an attempted coup d'état with the support of the aforementioned NGOs that are actively cooperating for this purpose,” said Denis Moncada.

Denis Moncada, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, on behalf of Daniel Ortega, the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, conveyed an invitation to Aslan Bzhania, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Inal Ardzinba, the Foreign Minister of Abkhazia to visit the Republic of Nicaragua.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged memorable gifts.

The meeting was held in a traditionally friendly atmosphere.
