On the meeting with Johannes van der Klaauw, the regional representative of the UNHCR UN in the South Caucasus. The meeting of Daur Kove, the Minister for the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia with Johannes van der Klaaw, the regional representative of the UNHCR UN in the South Caucasus was held on 20 October.
The meeting was attended by Ioko Akasaka, the Deputy Regional Representative of the UNHCR UN in the South Caucasus, Artur Gaguliya, the Head of the Department of the Cooperation with the International Organisations and Mukhamado Aziz Rahjo, the Head of the UNHCR UN Office in Abkhazia.
Opening the meeting Daur Kove highly appreciated the work of the UNHCR UN in Abkhazia and noted that whereas previously the projects concerned the post-conflict rehabilitation, now we may speak over the projects aimed at improving of people`s well-being. Also Daur Kove offered to the UNHCR representatives to pay attention to the development of the agricultural projects.
In his turn Johannes van der Klaaw told to the Minister on the several projects which UNHCR provides on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia in particular on the rehabilitation of the schools in the Eastern Abkhazia.
The exchange of views was held on other issues of mutual interest.
UNHCR is a UN agency that implements programs to provide assistance to refugees and conflict victims who are particularly vulnerable. In Abkhazia the UNHCR office has been functioning since 1993.
