The meeting of A.P. Stetsyuk, the Acting Minister of the PMR Foreign Minister with A.V. Vataman, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in PMR was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR on September 27, 2019.
Alexander Stetsyuk noted that relations with the Republic of Abkhazia have traditionally been one of the main directions of the foreign policy of Transnistria.
A. Stetsyuk congratulated A. Vataman on the occasion of today's date - the Liberation Day of the capital of the Republic of Abkhazia, the city of Sukhum from the Georgian occupiers.
A. Vataman, for his part, noted that the meeting was taking place on the eve of the Victory and Independence Day of the Republic of Abkhazia - the main state holiday of the country which Abkhazia and Transnistria have been celebrating together for 26 years constantly supporting and developing fraternal relations.
In addition, an updated Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic was signed on September 29, 2017 in the city of Sukhum. Alexander Stetsyuk and Alexander Vataman noted the importance of this document and the need to further strengthen of multidisciplinary bilateral relations in line with the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty.
The parties touched upon such important topics for the Republics as the state of the Moldovan-Transnistrian negotiation process that had developed before the meeting in the 5 + 2 format as well as the situation in the Republic of Abkhazia after the presidential election.
Alexander Vataman extended the invitation of Valery Bganba, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the President of the PMR at the inauguration ceremony of Raul Khadzhimba, the elected President of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The parties discussed a number of topical issues on the working agenda of the interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR and the Official Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR. They confirmed their interest in continuing an active dialogue taking into account the upcoming 2020 filled with anniversary dates.
The mutual interest in the further dynamic development of Abkhaz-Transnistrian relations at all levels of interaction was emphasized at the end of the meeting.
