On March 3, 2021, a working meeting was held between, the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation Daur Kove and Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. During the meeting a Plan of Consultations was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2021-2022.

There was a detailed exchange of views on topical issues on the bilateral agenda. The Heads of Foreign Ministries discussed in detail the current state of Abkhaz-Russian interstate relations as well as prospects for their development in the near future.

During the meeting, Sergey Lavrov noted that the signed Plan of Consultations would allow effective and efficient interaction, supplementing the existing ties between the ministries of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia.
For his part, Daur Kove expressed the hope that the meeting would add further impetus to the strengthening of the strategic Abkhaz-Russian inter-state partnership.
