On October 5, in Damascus, a meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia, led by Alkhas Kvitsinia, with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Syrian Arab Republic Hussein Arnus took place.
The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the SAR emphasized that the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic have already signed an Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation, and there is an agreement on duty-free trade, which is a good foundation for the development of bilateral relations in economic and trade terms. He also said that the Syrian side has already prepared its list of members of the joint Abkhaz-Syrian commission on trade, economic, scientific, cultural and tourism cooperation.
Alkhas Kvitsinia noted that the Abkhazian side is also ready to present its composition to the commission, for the earliest activation of the productive activities of this intergovernmental commission for the benefit of the two states.
In his turn, Hussein Arnus assured the head of the Abkhazian delegation that Syria will actively assist the Republic of Abkhazia in establishing diplomatic relations with friendly countries. According to him, Syria hopes for active cooperation in the economic sphere.
