The meeting of Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia with the representatives of the international non-governmental organizations which carries out the activities in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia on March 3,2020. 

The main topic of the meeting was the spread of the new type of coronavirus COVID-2019. The Foreign Minister of Abkhazia asked the participants to take precautionary measures to protect and prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia.

In particular, the parties talked on the possibility of cancellation of the work trips and introduction of the restrictions on movement for workers of the non-governmental organizations as well as the implementation of the various meetings and seminars.

Daur Kove emphasized that all these steps have been taken exclusively in connection with the spread of the new coronavirus and have no political context.
In turn, the representatives of the organizations agreed with the need to introduce the precautionary measures as well as their willingness to help in the fight against the spread of the new type of coronavirus COVID-2019.

The outbreak of the disease caused by the new coronavirus was recorded at the end of December 2019 in the city of Central China - the 12 millionth Wuhan. WHO recognized it as an emergency on an international scale describing it as an epidemic with many foci. The most infected people outside of China are in South Korea and Italy.

In total, cases of infection were detected in more than 70 countries.
