On October 5, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad received the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia, headed by Alkhas Kvitsinia at the residence of the President of Syria in Damascus.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Z.F. Kajaya, the Deputy of the People's Assembly - the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia O.K. Jinjolia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia D.V. Kove, the Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia to the SAR Khutaba B.R.
Bashar al-Assad greeted the members of the delegation and wished peace and prosperity to the entire Abkhazian people. He expressed the desire of the Syrian Arab Republic to develop relations with the Republic of Abkhazia and stressed his confidence that the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the SAR will give impetus to the development of interstate relations.
Alkhas Kvitsinia expressed gratitude on behalf of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic for receiving the delegation and for efforts to strengthen relations between the Republics. He also invited the President of the Syrian Arab Republic to visit Abkhazia at any time convenient for him.
