According to Mr. Hoenig, he arrived with a familiarization visit and the purpose is to study the socio-political situation in Abkhazia. The Minister told the German diplomat about the history of the Georgian-Abkhaz relations and about the current state of affairs in relations between Georgia and Abkhazia. In particular, Viacheslav Chirikba informed the Ambassador about the basic aspects of foreign policy of Abkhazia, the Geneva talks and the Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanism. The German Ambassador thanked the Minister for the warm welcome and expressed his hope for continuation of the dialogue.

The delegation also includes the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia I.R. Khintba, Head of State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia I.Y. Turava, Senior Assistant of the Legal Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Abkhazia D.R. Sanguliya and the Head of the Trade Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation O.M. Bartsyts.
