On May 12, Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia arrived in the Luhansk People's Republic to participate in the festivities dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the founding of the LPR.

During the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Lugansk People's Republic, the state awards ceremony was held, at which Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia was awarded the Medal of Merit of the II degree.

May 11, 2014 a referendum was held on self-determination of the Lugansk People's Republic. At the end of the referendum, the authorities of the LPR declared independence.
