On September 23, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation hosted a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin, ahead of the 68th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia (IDT).
On September 22, 2026, during a working visit to the Russian Federation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, met with Igor Chaika, the Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
A presentation was held in Yekaterinburg outlining the program for an international expedition to the Republic of Abkhazia scheduled for September 17–22 for foreign participants of the International Youth Festival.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held with Yevgeny Kozlov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Among the honored guests at the Abkhaz pavilion was Hussein al-Shara'a, father of the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sha'ar.
The Republic of Abkhazia pavilion became a platform for meaningful business networking and developing contacts with representatives of the participating countries at the 63-rd Damascus International Fair.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hisham Khat, head of the Adyghe Khase organization in Syria; Dr. Yahya Ibrahim, member of the Syrian People's Assembly-Parliament; elders Fahmi Chichba and Abdarahman Bagasa; and representatives of the Gechba, Argun, and Aryuta families.
His Beatitude Patriarch John X received the Abkhaz delegation at the Patriarchal Residence in Damascus. The meeting included a warm and informative conversation, discussing issues of mutual interest.
The delegation includes Jamal Bganba, Head of the Department of Strategic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Artur Gagulia, Head of the Department of the Middle East and Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.
