On August 27, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia between Odyssey Bigvava, Acting Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Akhsar Dzhioyev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.

The meeting was attended by Astamur Katsia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia, Anna Gamisonia, Senior Referent of the Department of Strategic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Sergey Tadtayev, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and Aleksey Sanakoyev, Head of the Department for Work with Foreign Missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Odyssey Bigvava thanked the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia for their visit to Abkhazia and participation in the celebrations dedicated to the 18-th anniversary of the international recognition of the Republic of Abkhazia. He also congratulated Akhsar Dzhioev and representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia on the 18-th anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia's international recognition, noting the special significance of this date for the two fraternal peoples.

"The Republic of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have been on a similar historical path for many years, struggling for the right to independently determine their future, maintaining of their statehood, and achieving of international recognition. In this regard, mutual support and solidarity between the two states are of particular importance," he emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation, interaction between the foreign ministries, as well as the further development and strengthening of interstate relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia.

Odyssey Bigvava and Akhsar Dzhioev also exchanged views on current international and regional agendas, touching on issues of security and stability in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further strengthening of the traditionally friendly and allied relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia and expressed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation in all areas of mutual interest
