On October 9, at the invitation of the Russian side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia, where he met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department for Strategic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Dzhemal Bganba; the Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia, Maxim Litvinov; and the First Secretary of the Embassy, Alexey Zhelygin.
During the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place regarding current issues on the bilateral agenda. The parties discussed the current state of Abkhazian-Russian cooperation and prospects for its further development, and also examined matters of practical interaction in areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of granting Russian citizenship to citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia. Oleg Bartsits thanked Vyacheslav Gladkov for the Russian side's assistance in expediting the relevant procedures.
The meeting took place in a traditionally friendly atmosphere.
