The troops of the State Council of Georgia under the pretext of protecting the railway invaded the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia on August 14, 1992. Today, 25 years later we recall the outstanding feat of the people of Abkhazia who stood up for the defense of their Motherland from the Georgian aggression.

The leadership and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia laid flowers to the memorial in the Park of Glory on the day of the beginning of the Patriotic War of the nation of Abkhazia in 1992-1993.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Committee for Repatriation 12 tons of bottled drinking water of the highest category was sent to the Syrian Arab Republic as humanitarian aid on 9 August. The transportation of water takes place with the assistance of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Institute for Socio-Political Research and Regional Development (Tiraspol) conducted the International Scientific and Expert Round Table "The Phenomenon of Russian Peacekeeping on the Dniester: 25 Years of Peace and Stability in the Epicenter of Geopolitical Transformations".

The decision of the Pridnestrovian leadership to declare the 1st of August as the Day of Remembrance and Grief for the gone defenders of the PMR is dated 1994. Since then, annually on this day in the Republic events are held reminding of the cessation of bloodshed on the Pridnestrovian land.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu on the occasion of the Independence Day.
