On May 18, as part of a working visit to Moscow, Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia met with Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
Oleg Bartsits emphasized that Abkhaz-Russian cooperation has recently received additional impetus, with numerous large-scale infrastructure projects being implemented. He also noted the coordinated interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
Grigory Karasin, for his part noted the critical importance of cooperation with Abkhazia for Russia in maintaining of balance and peace in the post-Soviet space.
During the meeting, issues of interstate Abkhaz-Russian cooperation, the development of the legal framework, and interparliamentary interaction were discussed. The importance of interaction at various levels, including parliamentary, was emphasized.
