The 46-th Round of the International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus took place in Geneva on December 11-12, 2018. The Discussions was attended by the representatives of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of South Ossetia, Georgia, the Russian Federation and the United States co-chaired by the UN, OSCE and EU.

Igor Akhb, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation, Ilya Guniya, Raul Lolua and Valery Agrba the deputies of the National Assembly as part of the Abkhaz delegation participated in the international conference “The Role of Parliaments in the Modern World”. The conference was dedicated to the 25-th anniversary of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia ratified two agreements with the Syrian Arab Republic on Thursday, December 6,2018: “Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic” and “Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic in the field of trade promotion and economic cooperation.”

The Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia drew attention to reports in the media on an agreement reached between Georgia and the United States on the construction of a military airfield in Vaziani under the auspices of NATO. The agreement was reached during the talks between Levan Izoria, Georgian Defense Minister and Stephen Lyons, General, the head of the transport command of the US armed forces.

V. Malaniya, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and M. Zukhba, the consultant of the Council of Young Diplomats to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia took part in the annual St. Petersburg International Youth Forum at the invitation of R.Yu. Abdulina, the Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with NGOs of St. Petersburg from November 29 to December 2018. More than 1000 delegates from Russia and on 60 representatives of foreign countries took part in the Forum.
