On August 4, 2026, a meeting was held between Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Dmitry Savelyev, Director General of the Center for Public Diplomacy, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Alexander Khadzhimba, Assistant to the Department of Strategic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Valeria Manovitskaya, Coordinator of the Center for Public Diplomacy branch in the Republic of Abkhazia participated also in the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the further development of Abkhaz-Russian cooperation, including expanding of humanitarian ties, implementing of joint social and educational initiatives, and strengthening of collaboration within public diplomacy projects.

Particular attention was paid to developing of international humanitarian contacts, supporting of youth and cultural exchanges, and promoting of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening of mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in continuing of constructive dialogue and further developing of partnerships that meet the interests of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.
