On May 25, 2022 Inal Ardzinba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia held a meeting with Riad Haddat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation.

The sides discussed topical aspects of the Abkhaz-Syrian relations, in particular, the planned trip of the head of the Abkhaz foreign ministry to Syria, within the framework of which a Memorandum of Understanding in the sphere of political consultations will be signed between the Foreign Ministries of Abkhazia and Syria. 

The meeting took place on the eve of the 4-th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Syrian Arab Republic, which was celebrated on May 29.
