On May 22, 2018, Ibrahim Avidzba, Plenipotentiary Representative of Abkhazia to Turkey met with the mothers of soldiers who fell in the 1992-1993 Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia and female veterans visiting Turkey as part of the Abkhaz delegation at the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey. The meeting was also attended by members of the delegation: Bastakua Agrba and Astamur Bagatelia, Deputy Chairmen of the State Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia for Repatriation; Tengiz Ankvab, Deputy Director of the Repatriation Fund; Irina Lasuria, Chief Specialist of the General Department; and Narsou Salakaya, Member of the People's Assembly-Parliament.
During the meeting addressing the mothers of soldiers who fell in the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia, Ibrahim Avidzba emphasized that they raised true heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland.
The Plenipotentiary Representative noted that the contribution of women to the struggle for freedom and independence in Abkhazia, who fought shoulder to shoulder with men and worked in the rear and hospitals is forever inscribed in the modern history of our country.
