In order to strengthen bilateral relations in the field of media, between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, and the Minister of Information of the Syrian Arab Republic, Boutros Hallaq.

During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral relations between both countries, in particular in the field of media and ways of their development. Minister Hallaq noted that the SAR Ministry of Information is ready to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Abkhazian side on the training of media personnel, the creation of joint media programs, news exchange and other areas that will contribute to the development of cooperation with Abkhazia in the field of media.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia noted the importance of the role of state media in raising the level of public awareness. He also emphasized the desire of the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia to continue to strengthen relations with the Syrian Arab Republic in all areas, including media relations.

Muhammad Ali expressed, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia, gratitude to the Syrian Arab Republic for its fair and objective position due to Syria’s vote against the UN General Assembly Resolution of June 4, 2024 on “The situation of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia.”
