Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic Muhammad Ali met with the Rector of Damascus University, Professor Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban.

During the meeting, the prospects for expanding scientific and academic cooperation between Abkhazia and Syria were discussed.

Muhammad Ali expressed the interest of the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia in developing relations between the Abkhazian State University and Damascus University, as well as in organizing student exchange programs. According to the Ambassador, this will have a positive impact on the development of scientific and cultural ties between the two countries. The diplomat announced the readiness to sign a cooperation agreement between the universities within the framework of the second meeting of the Abkhazian-Syrian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Cultural and Scientific Cooperation, which is planned to be held in the Republic of Abkhazia this year.

The rector of Damascus University Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban emphasized the importance of cooperation with ASU, the exchange of experience at the scientific and student levels, joint supervision of master's and doctoral dissertations, as well as holding scientific lectures face-to-face and online formats to strengthen research ties between universities.
