Alexander Vataman laid flowers to the memorial sign "Blessed are the peacemakers" to the slabs of the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow and to the monument to Lieutenant-General Lebed.
The rally continued the meeting which took place at the location of the Joint Staff of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in Bender.
Farit Mukhametshin, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Chisinau made the speech at the rally. "I would like to express special gratitude to our peacekeepers, to all the servicemen of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, who stand guard over peace and tranquility on the banks of the Dniester. Their courage and strength of mind and at the same time such qualities as tolerance and diplomacy, fidelity to the principles of peaceful settlement are a sure guarantee of the effectiveness of the unique peacekeeping operation conducted in Pridnestrovie. We are sure that the peacekeepers will continue to solve the tasks assigned to preserve peace and stability in the region," the diplomat said.
According to Mukhametshin Russia is concerned about the recent attacks by the Moldovan leadership on the peacekeeping operation. "We consider unjustified and unacceptable the plans and actions of the Moldovan authorities aimed at ending the peacekeeping mission of Russia in Pridnestrovie. This is the way to unleashing the new conflict on the Dniester which will draw Russia into the new hotbed of tension. I am confident that the Russian peacekeepers will fulfill their peacekeeping duty to the end," the ambassador said, adding that Russia has helped and will help Pridnestrovie and protect the interests of the residents of the Republic.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, the PMR President drew attention to the fact that this holiday is held in the difficult situation, "in conditions of pressure on Pridnestrovie and peacekeeping operation."
"Unfortunately, Moldova for 25 years did not recover from revanchism and there is the desire to finish what was started in 1992 what was prevented by the peacekeepers. This is very dangerous and the consequences are unpredictable," the head of state said.
The head of the Republic thanked the leadership of the Russian Federation for maintaining peace on the Pridnestrovian land.
The solemn march of servicemen of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and the ceremony of honoring the distinguished peacekeepers took place at the end of the rally.
