On July 21, as part of the official visit of the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia to Nicaragua, a meeting was held between Oleg Bartsits, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Laureano Ortega Murillo, the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the following from the Abkhaz side: Irakli Tuzhba, Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Madina Zukhba, Head of the Department of Latin America, Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, Inar Ladaria, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Nicaragua, Alias Aiba, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy as well as Boris Bartsits, Simon Agrba and Alias Khashba, representatives of the business community of Abkhazia.

During the meeting, issues related to the further development of economic relations were discussed, including strengthening of cooperation in the field of mutual trade, investment and banking.

Particular attention was paid to the possibilities of developing of humanitarian cooperation and deepening of interaction in the field of culture.

Oleg Bartsits thanked for the invitation to visit Nicaragua and share with the people of the country the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Revolution.

He emphasized that over the years of cooperation between our countries, strong bonds of friendship based on mutual trust and respect have been formed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia expressed hope that the current visit to Nicaragua will serve as an additional impetus for strengthening of friendly relations and creating of new opportunities for interstate cooperation.
In turn, Laureano Ortega Murillo expressed gratitude to Oleg Bartsits for the visit to Nicaragua, emphasizing that Nicaragua values relations with Abkhazia.

The parties outlined practical steps in the implementation of trade and economic projects and financial cooperation.

Mutual interest in further comprehensive development of interstate cooperation was expressed.
