The 42-nd round of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia took place on December 12-13, 2017.
The delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia was headed by Daur Kove the Foreign Minister and the delegation also included Irakli Tuzhba, the Assistant of the Minister, Artur Gagulia, the Head of the Department for Interaction with International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and Lasha Avidzba, the Deputy Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.
The main focus of the agenda was on the issue of coordinating of the oral statement of participants on the non-use of force. The sides began to agree and discuss mutually acceptable wording of the text of the statement. Following the results of the longest negotiations the parties failed to agree on the final version of the text of the statement. As a result, it was decided to continue work on the text of the statement at the next round of international Geneva discussions.
As part of the second working group, humanitarian issues related to freedom of movement, access to education and many other pressing issues have traditionally been discussed.
