On November 30, the Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Irakli Tuzhba, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, head of the Abkhaz delegation at the International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus and Mikhail Galuzin, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
From the Abkhaz side, Alkhas Kvitsinia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda of the next 59-th round of discussions scheduled for December 5-6.
Particular attention was paid to issues of ensuring security and stability on the ground. Once again, the need to conclude a comprehensive agreement on international guarantees of the non-use of force between Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia was noted.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for resuming the work of the local security mechanism on the ground - IPRM. Irakli Tuzhba noted that the Abkhaz side, through UN representatives submitted new proposals aimed at unfreezing of the work of this mechanism.
As part of the activities of the second working group on humanitarian issues, the attention of the Abkhaz side will traditionally be focused on the issues of overcoming of international isolation and ensuring of freedom of movement for citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Also during the meeting, other topical issues of bilateral cooperation were touched upon.
