The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia sent a note with words of solidarity and support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of the Fatherland.

The note says, in particular:

"The tragic events that began on August 14, 1992, will forever remain an unhealed wound for the Abkhazian people. At the cost of great losses and sacrifices, the people of Apsny gained a decisive victory in a selfless struggle and managed to defend their right to a peaceful life, demonstrating exceptional courage, heroism and patriotism.

On this memorable day, the people of South Ossetia share the bitterness of loss with the families and friends of the fallen defenders and civilians of Abkhazia and bow their heads in memory of the fallen."
