The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits sent a note to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua Valdrack Jaentschke on the occasion of the seventeenth anniversary of the Republic of Nicaragua's recognition of the independence and state sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The text notes, in particular:

"September 3, 2008 is a significant date that has forever entered the modern history of our country. On this day, our desire to build a free state was supported by the heroic people of Nicaragua, familiar with all the trials on the path to achieving independence, in the person of their great leader and great friend of Abkhazia, Comandante Jose Daniel Ortega Saavedra.

I am pleased to note that since the recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, there has been stable interaction in the political, humanitarian and other spheres. Abkhazia is interested in further deepening the political dialogue and developing full-scale cooperation between our countries. I am deeply convinced that we have all the necessary potential for this."

Oleg Bartsits wished the fraternal people of Nicaragua peace, goodness and prosperity.
