Sergey Shamba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to Ivan Gil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on this occasion.

It is noted in particular:

On September 10, 2009, the inalienable right of the people of Abkhazia to freedom and independent development was supported by the people of friendly Venezuela, familiar with all the trials on the path to achieving independence in the person of their great leader and great friend of Abkhazia, Comandante Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias.

We attach great importance to the allied and fraternal relations that have developed between our countries. It is difficult to overestimate your personal significant contribution to strengthening of the Abkhaz-Venezuelan strategic partnership.

We count on the further expansion and dynamic development of the entire range of bilateral cooperation for the benefit of our friendly countries."
