The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a congratulatory note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia on the occasion of the 33-rd anniversary of the adoption of the Act on the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.

It is noted in particular:

"This fateful document became the legal foundation of statehood, enshrining the will of the people for self-determination and the protection of their rights.

We, as allies and fraternal peoples, feel the special significance of this date especially keenly. Abkhazia and South Ossetia having gone through similar trials in the struggle for independence and the right to self-determination, invariably support each other. Our republics are united not only by a common historical destiny, but also by a deep mutual understanding in matters of protecting sovereignty, international recognition and building democratic states.

We are confident that further deepening of bilateral relations will contribute to the prosperity of our countries and strengthening of stability in the region."
