May 21, 2025 marks 161 years since the end of the Russian-Caucasian War, which in the 19th century resulted in thousands of Abkhazians leaving of their historical homeland and finding refuge in Turkey and the Middle East. Today, a number of events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Caucasian War will be held in Sukhum.
