On March 4, an online ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia to award former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Nicaragua, Inar Ladaria, with Nicaragua's highest distinction, the Order of José de Marcoleta, Grand Cross. This is the first time a diplomat from the Republic of Abkhazia has been awarded such a high-ranking state award from a foreign state.

Participating in the ceremony from the Abkhazian side were: Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Bartsits; Acting Deputy Minister Iraklii Tuzhba; former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Nicaragua and President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inar Ladariia; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to Nicaragua Alias ​​Aiba; Head of the Department of Latin America, Asia, and the Asia-Pacific Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Madina Zukhba; and Department officer Naur Khishba.

Participating from the Nicaraguan side were Co-Minister of Foreign Affairs Waldrak Ludwing Jentske Whitaker; Advisor to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade, and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo; and Deputy Minister Ivan Lara Palacios.

Abkhazian Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits noted that "relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Nicaragua are friendly, partner-like, and fraternal in nature. These relations are based on strong bonds of friendship, brotherhood, and a shared sense of purpose in this complex and rapidly changing world."

The minister warmly recalled the Abkhazian delegation's visit to Managua in July 2025.

"Our relations are developing, and they highlight our commonality. We see how, at all international forums, the Republic of Nicaragua constantly and consistently, resolutely and consistently expresses support for Abkhazia on all issues related to Abkhazia's international agenda," noted Oleg Bartsits.

The minister noted the development of cooperation in the arts and culture, as well as the beginning of collaboration between the business communities of the two countries.

"Our contacts are ongoing, and they are very intensive. I recently met with Alba Azucena Torres Mejia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Republic of Abkhazia and concurrently to the Russian Federation. During the meeting, we once again exchanged assurances that our policy remains unchanged. We remain close friends, partners, and brothers. We have planned many events that we will hold together, both in the Republic of Abkhazia and in Moscow, at the Embassy of the Republic of Nicaragua in the Russian Federation. This is another example of how we are giving real substance to our friendship and cooperation," he noted.

Oleg Bartsits thanked the leaders of Nicaragua, Co-President of Nicaragua Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Co-President Rosario Murillo, Co-Minister of Foreign Affairs Waldrak Jentske Whitaker, for their appreciation of the work of the Embassy of Abkhazia and the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to Nicaragua Inar Ladaria.

The Minister emphasized that "we regard this not only as a manifestation of friendship and brotherhood, but also as an assessment of the high level of our diplomatic relations and recognition of the diplomatic talent, dedication, and responsibility of our former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Nicaragua, Inar Ladaria."

"We understand that our relations are at a very high level. We will continue to expand our cooperation and strengthen our friendship and brotherhood with the heroic, selfless, and fraternal people of the Republic of Nicaragua," said the Abkhazian Foreign Minister.

Nicaraguan Co-Foreign Minister Waldrak Ludwing Jentske Whitaker conveyed greetings from Nicaraguan Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Co-President Rosario Murillo to Abkhazian President Badra Gunba and the people of Abkhazia.

He noted that Inar Ladariia was awarded for developing and strengthening fraternal ties between Abkhazia and Nicaragua, political dialogue, and mutual understanding between the countries.

"We take this opportunity to once again emphasize our unconditional support and commitment to developing ties between Nicaragua and Abkhazia, as well as our continued defense of the right to self-determination of free peoples in the international arena," said Waldrak Ludwing Jentske Whitaker.

He also congratulated Inar Ladaria on his appointment as President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia.

Laureano Ortega, Advisor to the President of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade, and International Cooperation, also said, "We are pleased to reward our friend Inar Ladariia for his dedicated work, his unprecedented efforts to strengthen ties between our countries, and his dedication to his work." He also noted that since Ladariia's arrival in Nicaragua, communication channels have been established that have strengthened cooperation and ties between the two countries.

For his part, Inar Ladariia, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to Nicaragua and President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that this event marks a striking conclusion to his work in Nicaragua as Ambassador, emphasizing that for him, these are, first and foremost, the interstate ties that have been strengthened, as well as the warm, human relations. Inar Ladariia expressed his profound gratitude to the leadership of the Republic of Nicaragua for the trust and appreciation of his work.
